Athens Medication Assisted Treatment
Athens Outpatient serves adults who are exhibiting behavior related to the use of substances that has resulted in a significant impact on their daily functioning. This location also offers screening for Medication Assisted Treatment which may include Suboxone, Vivitrol, and Methadone treatment. All referrals for Medication Assisted Treatment must comply with strict treatment requirements which may include individual and group counseling, case management services, employment services, urine drug screening, etc.

Basic Educational Group / AoD Education
Raises awareness of chemical abuse/dependency to assist clients in taking responsibility for their own alcohol and drug behaviors. Two groups offered at different times but during the same day.
Increases understanding and identification of consumer alcohol and drug related issues; motivates those who are acknowledging their issues and contemplating change.
Womens' Recovery Group
Supports women who have made a commitment to maintaining a clean and sober lifestyle; focuses on topics that are specific to women's issues. Two groups offered different days of the week.
Relapse Prevention Group / Maintenance Group
Addresses many issues related to preventing relapse including identifying triggers and early warning signs; each consumer is asked to complete a relapse prevention plan to address their own specific issues and needs.
Monitoring - Once a Month
Addresses how to maintain sobriety and develop sober supports
Case Management and Community Support Program
Assists individuals with utilizing strengths and resources to acquire necessary skills and services to increase independence.
Motivational Interviewing Treatment Approach
Assists the participants in increasing their awareness of the problem and the solution. Participants of Motivational Interviewing initiate talk of behavioral change and come up with their own solutions. Motivational Interviewing reinforces preparation to change, action, and maintenance of behavioral change. This approach has proven successful in working with a variety of populations who present a range of issues in the clinical arena in particular substance abuse and addiction. Motivational Inteviewing is the treatment approach used in services provided by AOP.
Provide evaluation/treatment for Problem Gambling
This group provides support for individuals involved in the Suboxone program. The group focuses on sober supports and maintaining sobriety through the continued use of Suboxone and to begin the process of life without suboxone.
Substance Abuse Professional (SAP)
The Department of Transportation (DOT) regulation -- 49 CFR Part 40 -- defines the Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) as a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare. HRS employs a DOT approved Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) to serve consumers who have violated Ohio (or surrounding states) DOT guidelines. HRS works with consumers to complete requirements associated with retaining certain license class requirements for employment. HRS offers SAP services for a $500 fee to start (due at the time that the first service/evaluation is delivered).
MAT—Medication Assisted Treatment
This location of Health Recovery Services provides medication assisted treatment to individuals who meet requirements during assessment. This location utilizes research based practices to treat various forms of addiction. Under the direction of a qualified Medical Director, HRS staff can provide quality, research supported treatment options to consumers with various, individualized needs. Upon contacting HRS for a comprehensive assessment and evaluation, some consumers will be referred for Medication Assisted Treatment, in addition to receiving counseling, case management, and other treatment services.
